How to get rid of earwax ?

Earwax, also known as cerumen, is a substance secreted in the ear canal. It helps to protect the skin of the ear canal, assists in cleaning and lubrication, and provides protection against bacteria, fungi, and water. Sometimes, too much earwax can build up and cause a blockage in the ear canal. It may press against the eardrum or block the outside ear canal or hearing aids, and potentially cause hearing loss.

If you find yourself experiencing earwax build-up, there are some easy steps you can take to get rid of the earwax. The most important point to note is not to use your fingers or any objects like cotton buds to remove earwax, as this will worsen the issue.

In most cases, earwax will fall out by itself. However, if it does not, we recommend putting 2 to 3 drops of olive oil in your ear 3 to 4 times a day, and repeat this for 3 to 5 days. We recommend using a dropper while lying your head on one side for a few minutes, so that the oil can work its way through your ear canals. From then, over the course of 2 weeks, earwax lumps will fall out of your ear.

If after this, you are still experiencing symptoms of earwax build-up, Ear Wax Care is here to help. Our NHS-trained audiologists use micro suction to suck the wax out of your ear. The process is quick, easy, and relatively pain free. Our audiologists have years of experience, so you will be in safe hands and soon your hearing will be back to normal!
