How to get rid of earwax without cotton buds?

When it comes to earwax, also known medically as cerumen, there is one thing that we always advise our clients. This is to avoid using cotton buds, bobby pins, fingers, pencils, or any other object to remove earwax from the ears. Contrary to popular beliefs, using cotton buds does not help remove earwax from your ears. In actual fact, it really only worsens the amount of earwax you have. Using a cotton bud will only push earwax deeper into your ear canal and cause earwax build-up and make it more compact. Additionally, you could cause damage to your eardrum and cause further problems. So, how can you get rid of your earwax without cotton buds?

The best thing about the ears is that they are in fact self-cleaning, meaning that you do not actually need to use anything to remove earwax. Through the process of jaw movements, such as chewing or talking, excess earwax is forced to outside the ear canal.

However, if you find that you have excess earwax or a build-up, you can use an at-home treatment of olive oil. Put 2 to 3 drops of olive oil 2 to 3 times per day into the ears over the course of 2 weeks. If even after this, you have excess earwax, then you can have a safe, effective, and fast treatment of microsuction.
