EAR WAX
CARE

How do you safely remove wax from a child’s ear?

For most people, ear wax normally just falls out on its own and does not need to be removed by a professional. If your child is feeling discomfort and their ears are blocked by ear wax, then you might be wondering about the best way to safely remove it from their ears. We know that children’s ear drums and hearing needs to be taken extra special care of. At Ear Wax Care, we’re here to advise you on looking after your child’s ears.

Some symptoms that your child may be experiencing as a result of ear wax build up are hearing loss, having earaches, or feeling like their ears are blocked.

Luckily, there’s an easy and safe way to treat such a build up at home. You can get your child to lie on their side with the affected ear facing up. Then, put 2 to 3 drops of olive oil in their ear, and allow them to continue lying on their side for 5 to 10 minutes after putting in the oil. This should be repeated 3 to 4 times a day, for 3 to 5 days.

Usually, over the course of 2 weeks, lumps of earwax should fall out of the child’s ear and symptoms should improve.

If there seems to be little to no improvement, we strongly suggest that you contact us at Ear Wax Care to speak with one of our professionals. They will be able to best advise on the specifics of your child’s ear wax and treat them in the safest and most effective way.
