How to Prevent Earwax Blockages Naturally

Earwax is a naturally produced by your body to help protect your ears and keep them clean. Here are some practical ways to prevent earwax blockages naturally and keep your ears healthy.

  • Avoid inserting anything into your ears! Using objects such as cotton buds can push the wax deeper into the ear canal causing them to become blocked. It’s best to use a damp cloth around the outer ear instead to keep them clean.
  • Whilst showering, let a little warm water to run into your ear. This can help to soften any earwax and help it fall out naturally. However, do not to this too often as moisture inside the ears can lead to infections.
  • Put a few drops of warm olive or almond oil in your ears once or twice a week to help soften and remove any excess wax from your ears naturally. This method can also help relieve blockages.
  • Eat a well-balanced diet consisting of foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, and zinc as these can help improve your ear health. Staying hydrated also supports your body functions overall.
  • Natural saline or diluted hydrogen peroxide drops can help prevent wax buildup.
  • Steam your ears by placing your head over a bowl of hot water with a towel over you can loosen any impacted wax and help expel this naturally.
