Blocked Ear
If you have a blocked ear, it can stop sound from going through your ear canal. In most cases, your ears will become blocked with earwax or water trapped in the ear after swimming. However, sometimes things like having allergies or a cold can cause sinus congestion making your ears feel blocked.

- Crackling sounds, especially when swallowing or even yawn
Ear Infection
If you have an ear infection, you would usually have more noticeable symptoms due to the inflammation. Here are some symptoms to look out for:
- Uncomfortable or strong pain in the ear, especially if it gets worse when laying down
- A hot sensation around the ear along with redness
- A fever is your body’s natural defence as this is fighting off the infection
- Discharge or oozing from the ear
- Hearing issues
