What to Expect During Your First Microsuction Appointment

If you’ve booked your first Microsuction appointment then you may have some uncertainty as to what to expect to help you prepare. Rest assured, Microsuction is actually a pretty safe and gentle procedure which helps remove blocked earwax quickly. Microsuction is method carried out by a trained professional which involves the use of a small suction device and a microscope to help them see your ear canal clearly.

When you arrive to your appointment you will meet with your clinician who will firstly discuss your symptoms. You may be asked things like what issues you are experiencing such as muffled hearing, discomfort, any previous ear history to help them understand and discuss whether this is the best option for you. Once this has been established, the clinician with check your ears using a small microscope to see the ear canal properly and checked the impacted wax.

Once they have checked your ears, the Microsuction procedure will likely begin soon after. A tiny suction device is inserted into your ear and carefully remove the earwax blockage while they keep an eye on your ear via the microscope. During this procedure you may hear a slight suction but it should not cause any discomfort. If you do feel uneasy at any point then you can let your clinician know, and then can help make it more comfortable.

Once the procedure has been carried out, your ears will be checked again to make sure they are clear. As the procedure have no downtime, you should be able return to your usual activities straight after your appointment.
