When it comes to earwax, there are so many questions you may have. Especially when you notice that you may be producing more earwax than others around you. There are many factors which could be causing you to be producing more earwax than others. Things such as age, diet, stress, hormones, hygiene, the list can go on!
There is no one reason which could be the contributing factor to the over production of earwax. Some people produce different amounts of earwax for many reasons which can be wet or dry wax. People with wet earwax tend to produce more, while those with dry earwax produce less. The glands in the ear canal also play a crucial role to earwax production, especially those who have naturally active glands and even hormonal changes such as puberty. Who would have though stress could also increase earwax production!? People wo live in polluted environments or dusty areas can also make extra earwax.
Another contributing factor to your body producing more earwax is Age. People of all different ages can produce more or less earwax. Children produce more make more earwax, especially when compared to older adults as theirs can be drier and sometimes excessive because the skin in the ear sheds more slowly than when you’re younger.
Earwax production varies from person to person due to variety of different internal and external influences. Sometimes the shape of your ear canal can also influence earwax production. Especially if you have narrow ear canals.
If you feel that you may be producing more earwax than others, this isn’t usually a concern however, it’s always best to get it checked out to rule out any health issues such as eczema, psoriasis, or even ear infections.
